Oral Hygienic Cleaning
Professional oral hygienic treatment is the removal of dental plaque and tartar that has built up on the surface of
the teeth and roots as well as the polishing the tooth’s surface.
Since the plaque as well as the dental tartar contains bacteria, their presence can lead to gingivitis (inflammation of the gums) in very short time. Persistent gingivitis can lead to the degradation of the supporting tissue of the teeth, loosening of the teeth, and eventually to the loss of teeth.

The inflammation of the gums is a common disease as it affects 99 % of the adult population. This is why regular
mouth care and removal of dental tartar at least once a year is very important.
During the oral hygienic cleaning – which can be done either by the dentist or an adequately trained dental hygienist
– the patient receives information about the correct way to brush his/her teeth, teeth brushing techniques, and also
about the tools that are necessary during this process.
Good oral hygiene is especially important in those patients who have implants and/or dental prostheses.
